Have an Awfully Nice Valentine's Day

We can't quite believe how busy we've been for 2011. So much for diets in the home counties! Everybody seems to be falling head first into mounds of Awfully Nice cupcake sponge and buttercream. And we don't mind at all.
We're a bit behind on our Valentine's Day email but we got it out to the masses this morning and we still have a few delivery slots left so if you want to say "I love you awfully large amounts" to your special someone then drop us an email at hello@awfullynice.co.uk

Christmas- so much so quickly, and it's gone!

Rather than lament the passing of our favourite holiday (closely followed by Easter) I thought I'd just make a short statement about our Awfully Nice Christmas Cake.
Holly baked and iced the most amazing Christmas cake ever.

That's it!

Busy thinking about Halloween...Already?!

We can't deny it we're already thinking way ahead and talking about Halloween (also Ben's favourite holiday) and we're pretty certain that we've come up with the most killer (excuse the pun) collection range. We're keeping our lips sealed until our flyers are ready but we'll let you know that it's going to be called Carrie and it's going to be awesome!
We also had a really good business meeting (yes cupcake meetings do happen!) last night and we're bringing forward our *new business venture*! Exciting non? We're definitely not letting anything slip just yet but keep an eye on our site over the next few weeks...
We also realised that we're nearing our 1st anniversary! We had our website launch party on the 2nd of October 2009 and we can't quite believe how quickly we've got to where we're at. I think it also means we're allowed to hold another party. It only seems fair...

Meg's Wedding Order

Eeep naughty Awfully Nice bakers! It's been far too long since our latest blog post but will all excuses aside Miss Holly did give birth to her beautiful baby daughter- Miss Beatrice Valerie Briffa this July, and a beauty she is too. Although we have still been busy in the cupcake kitchen..! One weekend in July saw us creating a fantastic wedding tier and cutting cake for the lovely Meg. They were having a laid back type do in Datchet and our brief was to make it bright and make it colourful! We created 100 carrot cake and chocolate cupcakes and had so much fun whilst decorating.
Congrats Meg and Ty we glad you had an amazing day! Love AN x

Peter Pan Cupcakes

When we were contacted about this order we quite simply, could not wait. Dan was having a "never grow up" birthday party for his (x) birthday. (We'd promised we wouldn't tell anyone his actual age!) So what did Awfully Nice do? A huge Peter Pan cupcake tier complete with Peter Pan hats, Tinkerbell, and Captain Hook's Hook!
We loved creating these cupcakes, even pain staking fondant rolling for the feathers in Peter Pan's hat was worth it!
Here at Awfully Nice we love a creative challenge, and soon we'll be adding more pictures to our site to show just what we've been up to.

Cupcake Icing Classes!

Well one half of AN has been off getting married and the other is developing a rather delightful lovely bump (6 months now!) but we're still finding time to create wonderful cupcakes and even the odd cupcake class or two. Last Saturday we took Sue and 5 of her lovely friends through the cupcake icing class- Awfully Nice style. AND we even had such good weather that we decided to do it in the garden. We hope all the ladies had fun, I know Holly and I did!
Well done to all the ladies- your creativity and sprinkle control was masterful! xx

Oh dear it's been a while...!

Well we've been so busy in the kitchen recently that our poor blog has been rather neglected! Well we can't wait for Spring (especially as it's 1 half of AN's wedding day on March 20th!) So we'll be busy thinking about fresh Spring like cupcake colours and flavours for the masses of the Home Counties.

Remember to order now to make it in time for Mother's Day!

Lots of love

Awfully Nice xx

Haahoos & Tombliboos!

This weekend saw Holly and I complete our most creative challenge yet... In The Night Garden Themed Cupcakes for the lovely Miles' first birthday. Never one to give up on a challenge Holly and I set to work Saturday afternoon after a day wandering the local farmers market (I bought the most amazing, but pungent cheese known to man!)

We made, remade, and remade fondant, royal, and buttercream icing to find the perfect combination of Haahoos and Tombliboos- and I'm not going to lie I still have blue food dye under my nails. But it was worth it. We're really happy with the final designs.

I dropped the cupcakes off to Miles on Sunday morning to a lovely pub in Hurley called the Black Boys Inn- I should have eaten before I set off, the food looked amazing. Amazering in fact. I was lucky enough to see the birthday boy himself and I hope he enjoyed the cupcakes (although perhaps not eating all 50 himself)! xxx

Oooh Err it's our first blog post

So a Friday morning in November brings us our first blog post. Holly is at home celebrating her birthday and I’m still deciding whether baking her a cake is a good or bad thing. I’ll score points for effort I think but not necessarily for originality… It would be much like a marine biologist bringing home fish for supper. Actually that might be quite backwards…
Anyway we’ve had a busy week of baking. You can now find our Awfully Nice cupcakes at the Firestation in Windsor, and at farmers markets soon…! We’ve also been at Newbury Wedding Fair recently – see the pic, hhhmm lurvely…
For now though I’m going to be happy that it’s a Friday and ignore the fact that a local newspaper researcher totally got my profession wrong in the local (albeit hugely important) paper. Deary me.
